Figs are in season! They are my all time favorite fruit / garnish because they are so beautiful, versatile and fresh. From desserts, to appetizers and drinks, figs elevate any dish. I always grab a large handful when they’re at the grocery store. We’re at intersection of summer and fall and the color of figs is so representative of that. Light and bright, but deep and dark.
As for the toast used here, it’s a seeded rye bread. Super crusty, and thick. There were a bunch of half loaves for sale so I bought one of them to ensure I don’t have food waste.
The mascarpone has a bit of cinnamon added to it for a little extra warmth added to the flavor of the cheese.
